Your Bio
Photography started out as a hobby and now has grown into a passion and a business. I picked up my fathers camera at a very young age and never put it down. My parents bought me my first Cannon A8 1 and I still till this day utilize that camera. I have grown to three more Cannons, an APS, and two digital. I can honestly say I am comfortable using any camera.
Working as a Freelance Photographer and now as a News Reporter gives me the freedom to be creative and be able to capture the photos I want. My love is photographing animals and landscapes, but; I feel the beauty of black and white shows true elegance and a certain softness especially when it comes to formal photos like weddings, headshots or portraits.
As far as my experience goes, I have my Masters Degree in Photography, which I obtained in August 2007. I am a Freelance Press Photographer with the IFPO (International Freelance Photographers Organization), a Correspondence/Associated Press Photographer with American Associate Press AAAA Certification, a member of NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association), the FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo) Photo Club and a member of the American Photojournalist Association. In April of this year I joined the ranks of News Reporter with the AIP.
I started my own company PuppyLove Photography in 2000 after a very long career of taking pictures both professionally and freelance wise. I obtained my experience from a variety of sources;
• While working in Savannah I worked for a Talent Agents. As my mentor, he took me under his wing and taught me how to shoot headshots, perfect my photo layouts, set up sales packaging, and work hand in hand with Hollywood Casting Agents for our clientel. He even put me in as an extra in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
• working at the FBI I took surveillance photos and evidence photos.
• After graduating from high school, I worked at Hecht’s Portrait Studio, where I started out in the sales arena. Obtaining top sales awards every month while I was there every month; When I showed an interest in photography and how to work the camera, they taught me how to be a photographer.
• In college I worked as an editor and photographer for our college newspaper ,”The Loquitor”.
I have experience in Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop, Printshop, Editpro,
I have completed courses at:
• The Maine Institute of Photography in Rockport, Maine (on going courses)
• Nikon School of Photography – Certification – Baltimore, Maryland.
